PYOMETRAThis results from gathering of pus in the uterus, so a problem restricted to bitches, that too above the age of five. The symptoms include loss of appetite, excessive intake of water, vomitings and increased urination. The stomach gets swelled up and it is difficult for the bitch to stand. She also displays rise in temperature every now and then. You might also see discharge of pus from the uterus, but not in all the cases. The treatment is to get bitch's blood sample checked by the vet. If pyometra is confirmed, the uterus will have to be removed by a small operation. There is no other cure.
