ANAL SACS

Anal sacs is part of a dog's body on either side of his anus. It discharges a fluid which acts as a lubricant to ease his motions. In a healthy dog, the anal sacs are emptied when the dog has finished defecation. If anal sacs fail to empty properly, he is suffering. He is likely to get infected because of that. Try to squeeze the sacs yourself to temporarily control the problem. If there is infection in the form of pus or if blood oozes while you squeeze the sacs, consult a doctor and apply ointment accordingly. If the infection is deep, the vet might suggest getting the sacs removed by a minor operation. This problem will generally be encountered in dogs of smaller breeds.
